My story
Hello all! I’m Tess, the founder and baker behind Golden Badger Bakeshop.
My love for the kitchen began when I was small — standing on a stool beside my great-grandmother, learning how the smell of something warm from the oven could make a house feel alive. I grew up baking and cooking with her, my grandma, and my mom for family gatherings, 4-H projects, and quiet afternoons that turned into memories that still smell like cinnamon and bread dough.
When an injury nudged me away from my work as a massage therapist, I found myself drawn back to the comforting rhythm of the kitchen — the chopping, stirring, kneading, and brewing that have always felt like home. Cooking, baking, and making drinks that warm you from the inside out have always been how I care for others and for myself — the heart of every family meal and every cozy moment shared around a table. What began as a way to heal and fill my days grew into Golden Badger Bakeshop, a cozy dream built from scratch.
The name comes from my Hufflepuff heart — I’ve always found comfort and inspiration in the world of Harry Potter, a place full of loyalty, warmth, and wonder. I like to imagine my bakery as the kind of spot you’d find just down the road from Hogwarts — where the smell of bread and Butter Brew drifts through the air, steam curls from teacups, and there’s always something sweet cooling on the counter.
While I’m mostly a one-woman show, I’m lucky to have a wonderful support team. My parents and grandparents often pop in with ideas, advice, and taste tests, and my husband, Fabian, helps bring the magic to life — from doing dishes to taking orders on the Knight Bus food truck. Together, we make sure every loaf, cookie, bowl of soup, and mug of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or Butter Brew is made and served with care.
At Golden Badger Bakeshop, I hope every meal, treat, and sip feels like a big hug from your favorite fluffy sweater — warm, heartfelt, and maybe just a little bit magical. Whether you’re ordering custom baked goods, planning a catered meal, picking up holiday treats, grabbing a bite from the Knight Bus, or stopping into the bakery to say hello, I hope you’ll always find a little comfort and a little magic waiting for you here.
FAQs
Do your treats contain allergens?
Please be aware that although we have a process in place to prevent cross-contact there is still a risk of the presence of any allergens.
Can I get treats the same day I order them?
Currently I am unable to take same day orders. I am hoping to have this as an option in the future. I would prefer orders be made at least 3 days in advance at this time.
Do you have any questions? If you do please email them to kitchen@goldenbadgerbakeshop.com and we will get them answered as soon a possible.
