Irish Soda Bread

from $4.00

Baked in massive amounts around the world in the lead up to Saint Patrick’s Day, this humble soda bread began as an affordable necessity during the tough times of famine in Ireland. This Irish classic was and still is a staple in many households, used to mop up hearty stews and wash down pots of tea.

Traditionally, the Southern Irish regions bake their loaves in a classic round fashion and cut a cross on top of the bread. This was done for superstitious reasons, as families believed a cross on top of the bread would let the fairies out or ward off evil and protect the household.

Golden Badger will be offering 2 styles of Irish Soda bread this St. Patrick’s Day. A traditional 2 lb. round loaf and Soda Bread Muffins for easy consumption.

All breads will be available for pickup Thursday, March 16th or Friday, March 17th. After you place your order I will contact you to set up a pickup time and place.
